Have you ever watched the Portuguese version of The Price is Right on RTP? I don’t know why but I love this show, I can’t get enough of it yet if you asked me to watch the Aussie version on… I don’t know what channel it’s on, is it still Channel 7? I would look at you like you were nuts. Fernando Mendes is my ideal Portuguese man, forget Larry Emdur he has nothing on my guy.
When contestants go on O Preço Certo they always take Fernando a gift, I think this is my favourite part of the show. The gifts are always so out of left field, you just never know what is going to come next. I have seen ladies offer up crochet doilies, men offer animals carved out of wood, homemade wine, homemade aguardiente, honey, a hat, and possibly the most odd I have ever witnessed—one man brought in his power tools to give to Fernando Mendes. What’s he going to do with your second-hand Makita?
I have always said that if I were to somehow ever get myself into the studio audience for O Preço Certo I would wear a T-shirt with a big picture of Fernando Mendes on it, and as a gift, I would give him a T-shirt with a big picture of me on it. I think it would make remarkable television.
